Visiting Professor Winter term 2016-17

Philippe Büttgen held the Viadrina Visiting Professorship "Pensées Françaises
Contemporaines" from October 2016. In this role, he taught several courses in the Master's programme in Aesthetics and Literature
Philosophy and the Master's programme in European Studies at the Viadrina in the 2016/17 winter semester. He is Professor of
Philosophy of Religion at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne. His research interests include
contemporary philosophy of religion, the history of the Reformation and confessional identities. Among other things,
he has studied the formality of practices in Michel Certeau, the comparative early modern
history of religion in France and Germany and the significance of Martin Luther for philosophy
.
