BAföG representative

Students who apply for benefits under the Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG) must submit a transcript of records after the 3rd or 4th semester in accordance with section 48, paragraph 1, sentence 1 of the BAföG.

In order to obtain this proof, please first check the number of ECTS credits you have earned at the end of the semester in which you are required to provide proof of your achievements in the Transcript of Records in viaCampus.

• If you can provide proof of 60 ECTS credits after 3 semesters, 90 ECTS credits after 4 semesters (or 120 ECTS credits after 5 semesters), then you can contact your processor at the BAföG Office of the "Studententenwerk" directly and do not need to submit any further documents apart from your Transcript of Records.
• If you do not achieve the specified number of ECTS credits, you must have Form 5 signed by the BAföG representative of the faculty (or the deputy). If you deviate significantly from the „usual achievements“ (i.e. the expected number of credits), you will be asked to attend an interview.

You will receive Form 5 as follows:

1. Download the form template.
2. Send the form 5 you have completed up to line 10 as a PDF together with your current proof of all achievements with ECTS credits (Transcript of Records) by e-mail to the BAföG representative of the faculty (or to the deputy).

If you wish to receive BAföG during your studies or internship abroad, you must complete form 6 („Zusatzblatt für eine Ausbildung im Ausland“) 

• In the case of an internship, please contact the Career Center (advice on internships abroad).
• If you are studying abroad, please complete form 6 yourself and ask the team at the Viadrina International Office will issue the letter of authorisation (either the Grant Agreement or a separate confirmation).

For the certificate of achievement (form 5), please contact the BAföG representative of the Faculty of Cultural Studies.
