Excursion to Grünheide to explore Tesla

As part of the teaching research project 'Exploring Tesla in Brandenburg', Viadrina students went on an excursion with Prof Dr Münnich and Dr Hennig to explore the issues surrounding the establishment of Tesla in Grünheide.

The factory has been the subject of controversial debate ever since the Tesla automotive group announced plans to build a car factory in Grünheide, Brandenburg. This summer semester, political scientist Dr Anja Hennig and sociologist Prof Dr Sascha Münnich want to work with students to find out which discourses are pervading the establishment of Tesla, what effects Tesla is having on the region and how these can be scientifically analysed.

During the excursion, the seminar had the opportunity to talk to a representative of a citizens' initiative from Grünheide about the consequences for the region, as well as a representative of IG-Metall about the working conditions at the factory. The group was also given a tour of the protest camp located near the factory site.
