Sascha Münnich and his team dedicate their research and teaching to the sociological examination of the interactions, ambivalences and tensions between capitalist economies, democratic politics and cultural patterns of interpretation. From a historical and comparative perspective, our research focuses on the dynamics of contemporary global capitalism, with a particular interest in the institutional, cognitive and normative dimensions of different markets and entire economic systems.
How do the institutions and structures of capitalist societies develop in different spaces and at different times? And how do economic rationality, historical heritage and social structures interact in the different institutions and economic cultures?
