The working group for Jüdische Literaturen Berlin-Brandenburg is dedicated to the diversity of Jüdische literatures in the language cultures of the world. The interest is not only focussed on central texts of world literature, but in a broader sense on works of word art in which essential challenges of a respective present are negotiated. In this sense, the working group will also discuss the significance of literary approaches to cultural-historical issues. Through their artistic constitution, Jüdische literatures open up access to representations of historical experiences and social knowledge, which are also made theoretically and methodologically effective in the broader field of Jüdische studies. The working group is thus oriented towards literary studies, but also opens up perspectives for other disciplinary perspectives.
The Berlin-Brandenburg academic region has researchers in literary studies in this field, whose activities are to be brought together in this working group at the Selma Stern Centre for Jewish Studies. The aim is to visualise the breadth of Jewish literatures in the various languages of the world and to bring about thematic networking in this area in research, teaching and public activities. We cordially invite interested colleagues to join the working group. This applies to colleagues from the scientific region as well as researchers from all over the world who would like to network with the working group.
